Spiral Report Problem

(1/2) > >>

tnbndr:
I thought that I had this report all set to do a total count of spiral on a drawing for purchasing purposes. Got a call from jobsite that they are short of certain sizes.
I started investigating and have come to realize that the report will report accurately if all the pipe is drawn individually. Any spiral that is copied and has the same Item # of another piece is not reported in the total length. All I want to report is spiral size and total length for the purchasing department.
Any help in finding what I am missing on this report setup would be appreciated. I have tried many options and can't get it to add duplicate Item #'s to the total length. I am attaching the report for anyone that wants to play with it. If you draw 3 pieces of spiral and do the report it will report size and length as 30. If you now copy those 3 pieces and do the report it will report the spiral size and length as 30 even though there is now 60' of spiral.

Thanks
Dennis

Try this modified report, basically what is happening is as follows.
When one or more items in the report are deemed the same, only 1 is displayed and its Quantity is incremented to reflect the number of items. So in you report you need to multiply the Pattern Length by Item Quantity. Ive added Quantity to the report, set its column width to 0 (so it does not display) and put a calc on the Length field (Pattern Length * Quantity).

Another option would be to use the Pattern Centre Line Length field, using this field give you the option to display the value "per Item Qty" or "total Item (Extn)" in the contents tab. Setting it to the latter will automatically multiply out the lengths by the quantity.

Once again thanks for your help. That appears to work. I had tried putting in the quantity, knowing that the two were possibly related but I never tried the CALC field and the formula.
Appreciate the quick response.
