Linear Nest Pipe Reports in 2014 CADmep
« on: Apr 26, 2013, 15:03:51 PM »
Has anyone messed with these in 2014? Coming from 2012 none of our linear nest reports will not work because of the file ext change from .IRP to .LRP and the set-up format has completely changed so it's not as simple as changing the ext. Found nothing mentioning this in the help file to get started and none loaded with default build.

I don't know if this is a 2014 issue...may have happened in 2013. 2013 added some functionality like including kerf size in the calculations.

Regardless, I'd advise anyone using linear nesting from 2012 to redo those reports if going to 2013/2014.

It did happen in 13 but we didn't mes with 13. I'm all for redoing the reports if I had an idea how to set them up. Be nice to even just get started, can't seem to get them to do anything.

I played around briefly with Linear Nesting Pipe Report and it seems to be missing some functionality. <--- My Bad

Today Noticed New Context Menu Option for the Linear Nesting seem its separated from the regular Report Builder, testing now

we went through a training a couple of months ago and got told that Linear Nesting in 2014 is broken. Supposedly Autodesk is looking into it not sure.

Was told the same thing by support. They moved it up to Autodesk about 3 months ago. Haven't heard back yet.

Did you send the issue to Autodesk directly?

No, I did not. There was a fix issued in the service pack that was pulled back. So, hopefully it will be fixed when the sp is re-released.

ok looks like they put linear nesting back but it is nothing like it is in 2013. Has anyone gotten this to work right we (me and my boss) have been fooling with it for 2 days now. It is not actually nesting anything, I.E. showing what cuts can come out of a piece of pipe. Also they have taken out the "Item Spool Name" so it won't work with spools anymore.

Can anyone explain why break something that isn't broken?

+1 on the Spool Name. That's the only problem I have with it.

Scott you said that spool name is your only problem? does that mean that you figured a way to show the optimized cuts off a stick of pipe. If so please share because we have tried every option in trying to create the .LRP file and cannot get it to show the optimize cuts. As it stands right now it is no more than a BOM report.

FYI to anyone else- when we started trying to get the report working it was not reading any pipe (BD items). We put a service ticket in and they said it was something with the BD items. We had to update our item files and then the report could read them.

I found this as well, it does recognize non bd pipe but it stills seems broken.

I have attached a report generated by the linear nest report. Here are my print objects:

The calculation on "Linear Length" is: (Linear Length - Linear Part Length) and the filter is: (Linear Length not 0), this keeps my full lengths off my cut list.
