Rescaling Underlays
(1/1)
cnash:
We are hoping that in the future you can re-scale underlays along with all the items and designlines for that underlay (basically a select of all items to be scaled).
Currently if we find out our scale is off we have to re-scale the underlay and then redraw all the items which is a hassle.
We try and get everything scaled correctly the first time, but it isn't always perfect, we have also in the past had issues where the dimensions given were incorrect so rescaling has to happen as well.
cjehly:
I was under the impression that design lines did scale correctly.
Honestly though, the fact that you aren't getting Revit or at least Autocad backgrounds is a bit disturbing.
I thought we were over that hump about 10yrs ago.
cjehly:
I'd be asking my PM why we don't have these things, and asking my estimators how much they estimated for someone to convert PDF's to backgrounds, and deal with the inherent problems that arise from doing so.
In short, you shouldn't be treated so awful.
cnash:
This issue is mainly in EST.
Usually the backgrounds we receive in cad are just scaled architecturals.
In EST we have underlays to do the takeoff based on and we have to scale these correctly, which sometimes is quite difficult with the information given.
bknapton:
I agree that EST needs a scale function. If a user fails to "alignscale" prior to drawing DL then the take off is pretty much useless.
Wonder how long we will have to wait for this one (insert Jeopardy song here)
