Block is not visible
« on: Sep 22, 2016, 16:28:33 PM »
My colleague is having issue with block. First, we thought it was gone but then discovered it is in the drawing but it is not fully visible. We can see some flanges but other parts are not there. I tried to explode it, check layers to make sure nothing is frozen and have no luck. Also I copied it into brand new drawing and it looked the same BUT when I exploded it, I could see all the parts. I tried to wblock original file, nothing has changed.

Any ideas what it could be?

Check in the properties and make sure transparency is not causing it.

Did you try a "show all" after you exploded the block.  I have issues when putting fabrication items in blocks i.e. Hot and cold water.  If you isolate the cold you cannot unisolate the hot water service without going into every block and doing a "showall"
Is your computer on?

I just tried it and it did not work....
Not sure what caused that problem... User said he edited a block (changed flanges) and then part of the block was gone.
What I did to solve it- I copied that block into new drawing and exploded, put everything on a new layer and recreated a new block and pasted it into original drawing

Check the status of the both Layer 0 (zero) and Defpoints.

As I recall, freezing(off?) one could also affect the objects on the other or something like that. There's a weird relationship between those two.

Sorry I don't have more details....haven't run into this is a decade or more.

We did not have any frozen objects at that time.
I do not know what it was and why..

Are you using 2017? If so, we are seeing an issue were the user opens the drawing that it says it needs to recover. When they do it deletes objects that were in the block.
