Using pattern 2199
« on: Jun 01, 2020, 22:19:04 PM »
Hey all -

I'm looking at different patterns used for wrapping 3D geometry. When I right-click in Folders and create a new 3D Model Item or 3D Model List, those wind up as 1175. I've been reading a little about 2199 being a wrap pattern but I haven't found a way to directly wrap something as 2199 within the CADmep environment; instead, I always wind up with 1175. (FYI I'm bouncing back and forth between 2019 and 2020 due to various project requirements--long story.)

Does anyone have a whitepaper or a tutorial on how to implement this? Or am I way overthinking this?

Thanks.

Following...

I'm using the 1175 as well.
Most content comes in on its side too, no matter how I create it.
Just a note from my experience, product listing does not work.

I tried to make objects that were basically the same geometry but different connections and it did not work.

It seems like it does but the Revit connections always zero out in Revit, so it will not auto snap to pipe.

Yeah, same here. But as long as you're not packing it full of metadata it works fine. That is, if you're not using Product List, or even if you have a PL but it's empty, it will still work.

Not sure about the issue where it's showing up sideways though.

I have never heard/used of this pattern before but found a part that is using it. Any insights into it would be helpful.

I am trying to duplicate a part but having problems with its import into Revit. I suspect it is because pattern 2199 has an option of Fitting Type (Bend, Branch, Cap End, Cross, Equipment, Reducer, Tee, Transition,)

It turns out that 2199 was a wrap CID that was only available for the original (un-updated) version of Fabrication 2019. After that, it reverted to 1175. Unfortunately, Revit didn't support 1175 having a Product List until 2024 (I think).

2199 was great, since you could pack all the information you wanted into the Product List and it wouldn't cause the itm to glitch in Revit. But it got shut down almost immediately for reasons I don't know.

However, since 2024 (I think, or maybe 2023), 1175 is now fully supported within the Revit environment, Product List and all. We've never had an issue with it.

If you're having an issue with 2199, that could be due to several different causes. You say that you're having problems bringing it into Revit--what kind of problems?

The problem I was having was not related to the part, there was a different option in that pattern that isn't available in 1175.
