I removed the origin block from my model and purged the block and layer out, saved the model and glued again and it's still out in space.  I turn off the elevations and sizes layer and it zooms in like Bob said.  It's screwy for sure, I don't get it.

Sorry, don't mean to irritate anyone. I just observed that it worked only after removing the zOrigin layer. I left the text alone. Not sure why I had a different result.

Ok, so I found sort of a "fix" but hopefully it can be addressed at some point.  So I made a button with the lisp to remove all text from fabrication objects and then glued, and it works since there are no text layers now.  I guess I can remove the text, glue, and then undo until I find a better fix.   :-\

So I also think this is where the "only show text in paperspace" option could come in handy.

This is why we xref our models into a text sheet file...Text or any 2D objects (IMHO) shouldn't be in a 3D Model.

How exactly would you text your fabrication objects if they are being xref'd into a drawing that you add text to?  Do you manually type in all the sizes and elevations?
