2017 Underlay
« on: Jul 08, 2016, 19:55:19 PM »
I noticed in EST 2017 they have some new things when you import your underlay. I brought in a PDF and there is now an option to scale it before you place it. Does anyone know how that works? I chose 1/8" = 1'-0" and when I measured a door after I set it, it measured out to .0259" so the scale didn't take. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong or if it just doesn't work...

Choosing the scale while importing only works if the file was created at full size or 1 to 1.  Otherwise as you can tell the scale does not come out correct.  However you can measure 2 points and use the custom scale to scale the file correctly before bringing it in.  This is most likely how it is going to be used if you are going to scale the file before bringing it in.

I just noticed this.
When they showed off 2017 this was a feature that was shown as a quicker way to import. I figured it would work like bluebeam does but I'm seeing that it's bunk.
I guess we will have to stick with "AS" or "ALIGNSCALE" like we have been doing in the past.

There is a way to scale the drawings while importing them so they come in with the correct scale.  Once you see this I think you will see it is faster than before.  Not even taking into consideration the automatic layout tabs getting created.

I can't get either to work.
I have tried the scaling and tried to bring multiple pdfs.
Right now we are sticking to individual imports and using alignscale.

You will need to download two service packs to get this function to work properly. Look in your autodesk app manager to find them.

The scaling while importing the underlay works well. This is a nice addition. What about the automatic layout tabs? I don't see anything like that?
