General -Not Cut- rod holes
« on: Jan 18, 2017, 20:40:14 PM »
I wish we had a tick mark somewhere in the database to NOT CUT the tie rod holes for the whole database.
I have a couple of hundred stiffeners to set the tie rod hole diameter to NOT CUT because the client doesn't want the holes.
He receives a lot of MAJ files with weird stiffeners from many clients that botch the way they build their database and he prefers no hole to a lot of misplaced holes...

Do you know of a script that would "fix" this?

Hi vtx,
 No. I started working on something to do that work, but I realized that by the time I would finish, I'd have the time to do it "by hand"...
...so I did it by hand!

Ah.  I've got a client that is griping that the holes are still showing but the job is finished (5 floors) and he's only now camming 1st floor.  He hasn't said but is expecting me to change each piece.

Can you not just run this

item.stiffener[1].value="none"
item.stiffener[1].locked="true"

Just run a report first on qty than run script

This would remove all stiffener I think.
The stiffeners and the quantity have to stay.
Just the rod holes have to be set to "No Cut" in bulk.
We have to go into each stiffener in the database and set the value manually.

That's why you run a stiffener report first before running script. Can't recall if the burn holes can be turned off by themselves. Maybe

If it was drawn using the client's Fab DB, then the stiffeners should be per their setup and correct.

If it was done with a different DB than the clients, I'd "Highly" recommend they reapply their spec to the job.

Or, duplicate the stiffeners, then duplicate the specs and reapply.

They really need to make a 3d printer that prints ductwork out of pooky.
