Fabrication 2017.2.2 Update Bug
« on: Jun 07, 2017, 18:21:43 PM »
After installing .2, we have noticed that the software does not seem to look at the connector turnover value when the spec table assigns the "Auto" length. Instead of taking the default length, and subtracting the connector's turnover, it completely ignores it.

For example:

Spec table is setup to use 60" Auto Length, with TDF connections (2" turnover set on connector). The new finish length should be 56" (excluding gaskets / snap offsets). After this update, it comes it at 60".

Can anyone else verify this??

Tried both 2017.2.2 and 2018 to see if I noticed any differences between the 2 and they both seem to work.

Duct length + (TDC Turnover * 2) = Standard Straight in Spec.

Use Auto Length as Entered Length seems to be causing the issue. Uncheck this setting if checked.

Yea...I see it now.  I think there's more to it than that.

Go into your spec and set the straight length to something like 30". Draw a piece of duct. It gets dropped in at the reduced length. With the attacher still on, click another piece of straight. It goes on full length. Double Click the fitting to edit it but just click OK without changing anything and it drops back to 30".

This happens regardless of the toggle value.

Screencast link is here...

The issue I show in the screencast, when it looks like the wrong length is being used, it appears that the Spec is getting confused between "Straight" and "Fitting" specs.

I've at times had the straight display the length for the Fittings and not the Straight.

I've not found any consistency to it. Sometimes it works, other times it pulls from Fittings instead of Straight for the length.

We are getting similar results with Fabrication CADmep update 2017.2.2. Our specification seems to work with slip and drive duct 59" long finish, but when it calls for TDF at 56" long finish our duct changes automatically from Decoiled Straight to Machine Cut. We have been forced to roll back to 2017.2.1 to continue our work. That includes Use Auto Length as Enter Length unchecked.

I fixed mine by unchecking standard lengths and deleting any sizes in there. I also unchecked use auto length. All is good now.

Hmm. Use auto length doesn't seem to be working at all. Doesn't seem to matter what its set at.

Thank you guys for all of your comments. I've tried all of the above, and it seems to work on  full joint TDC/TDF duct if you uncheck the box "Use Auto Length as Entered Length" and modify the "Machine if Length <" parameter.

It appears that the "Machine if Length <" parameter directly corresponds to the length breakpoint between Machine Cut / Decoiled Straight. This works on full joint TDF duct if you set that to 56.xx. However, if you decoil S&D duct, that setting will not make a 57" S&D joint machine cut.

In the end, unchecking the box "Use Auto Length as Entered Length" will not work with our current configuration. Personally, I still believe this is a bug and am not going to move to .2, or develop a work-a-round, until Autodesk decides if this is an issue or not.

Thanks Again!

Did you try this? But it is a bug for sure.

I am seeing that 2017.2.3 came out on 07/04/2017... has anyone had a chance to install and review if this issue has been resolved?

Thanks!

I downloaded and installed 2017.2.3, and am seeing that the issue is mostly resolved, but still not 100%. The issue occurs again with changes to the duct's depth... If less than 6", then the duct length reverts back to the material width.
