Iowa Coil Line Download
« on: May 17, 2018, 16:32:29 PM »
We are currently installing an Iowa coil line and are having download issues.
The controller is seeing 12" x 12" duct as 1200" x 1200". Where do we go to fix this?
Also, how does the office let the shop know which DEC file to process for a job? The controller supposedly doesn't recognize words in the file name so it has to be numbers. How do you get the DEC file number onto a report or label? I can't find that information as an available field in any print layout area, and if we have 3 people doing CAM input, when they all create files, how do you know which file goes to which job?

did you ever resolve your issues? Our numbers are messed up too when they come through the coil line and I have tried every version of the Iowa with no success.

Can you post a sample of the DEC file you're producing?

Regarding how to communicate the program number to the operator, I'll post a little later when I get time.

See attached COD Script. You'll need to edit it to reflect the path of your DECOILER.INI file.

You also need to add a JOB CUSTOM DATA field. The script should also be edited to reference that custom data field number as well.

Both of those lines are in the beginning of the code.

You can then call the script in the process that creates your DEC file. This will read the DECOILER.INI file and find the number that'll be used next and place it in the job custom data field. You can then print reports and pull this number from that field.

There's several things in the processes that can increment that number even when no DEC file is created. So you'll want to play a bit with processes sand make sure your report processes are right after the DEC file generation.

Your other option is to write on the label with a pen/marker.

Here is a copy of my dec file, the machines communicate properly now but the information doesn't translate correctly when downloading, the numbers, seams, connectors are all mixed up.

How old is your machine?

Do you have any old DEC files that previously worked?

I would say the coil line is 25 years old. It was just upgraded with a new console and computer and they wanted to try and D/L Dec files to it now. Never downloaded anything to it in the past.
