We have a 3x5 dot matrix oki label printer and looks really bad and is really slow so we're looking to upgrade. Any suggestions would be helpful

Used a color bubble jet printer. It was really fast and the text and graphics looked very good.  :)

We use a Zebra ZT230 Label printer, we print a lot and it never gives us any trouble... :)

lol i think i hear that sound in my sleep now.

We buy our labels from Banner Sales and he recommended just something cheap. Like an HP or Brother. My only concern is if I can do large prints and walk away without having to watch it. Typically a large print it around 600 labels. So that would be a stack of 60 labels. would that be too much to load at once?

edit: i dont know what kind of math that was, I meant a stack of 100

I was sometimes doing about 50 sheets at a time. Occasionally I would have problems like having 2 pages stuck together but overall it was rather painless and really, really fast.

At my last place, we used a Brother color laser jet with 2x3 sheets of white, gray, or yellow labels, and that worked fine for our fittings.  The job was indicated with a colored stripe across the top.  (They also had white label sheets that had a big, red "HOT" printed across the middle of each label.  I remember seeing those all too often in the shop...)  For full length straight labels, we had some sort of thermal printer with a constant feed of individual labels on perforated backings.  (I forget the brand.)  They faded easily, so I don't remember the field loving that.

Where I work now, we have used an HP Laser Jet Enterprise M506 for about a year now with no problems.  It's a black and white laser jet, and we buy 2x3 sheets of colored or color-striped labels.  We like the colored labels because at any given time, there's a bunch of jobs going through the shop, and it's super easy to distinguish without having to either read the label, or look for a little color swatch.

Is there any pin-feed laser printer solutions? They didn't go for the sheet printing because they like the continuous way we do it now.

Our shop prefers one continuous sheet like the pin feed provides. I really want to use laser cause its obviously superior in every way. But the shop is fighting me on this  >:(

We use a Zebra ZT230 which is not pin feed but it is continuous. Works with a thermal transfer ribbon so print quality is consistently good. No use if you need color though.....

Have a look at the Epson ColorWorks Label Printers, continuous feed colour inkjet, Roll Feed or Fanfold.

We use the C3500 with great success and the C7500 gives higher print speeds if you need it.
Replaced our Zebra thermal transfer printers when we decided we needed colour.
