Has anyone found a fix for the O-let Issue?
« on: Oct 03, 2018, 21:03:27 PM »
Has anyone found a fix for the issue of O-Lets somehow breaking connectivity in Designline?

A lot of times when an O-let is on a line that line will have missing joints, missing hangers or misplaced joints/couplings.

This has been happening for a few versions and I'm not sure if it has ever been addressed.

Here is a picture example. I have changed the colors so it's easier to see. Pipe & Fittings in Grey, Joints in Yellow.
Top Example has O-lets, Bottom Example uses Tees.

You are not the only one. It also likes to break up straight pieces and add welds next to the olets which I end up having solve by erasing the pipe and stretching a new piece in. I think this issue has been a problem for a long time and has never been fixed.

What is your Button Mapping designation for the O-Let?

Our is P01, (with an Assembly Code) and I do not believe we are experiencing the Weld issue only the Hanger drop-out.
I believe the Hanger drop out is due to the PO1 indicates a piece of Pipe and therefore the branch connection is not seen as a Tee.

See pics.

Olet's1 es mui bueno

Olet's2 es el diablo

I think it's an issue of when you have a spacing between the olet's greater that the length of your pipe. I am using 40' pieces. instead of sacking them end to end it puts on connector next to the olet. I am also using an assembly but it does it with just O'lets as well. as far as the mapping I am using the ASTI pack with some modifications.

I have tried just Pipe (P01), O-Let and a script, both work the same it seems.

The images below is the "Assembly" and script & Typical Button Mapping for Pressure Piping.

Let me know if this helps.

So you don't get welds in weird spots with your button coding? even if u puts say 50' of pipe between the olets?

No matter what I do ("assembly" scripts, no "assembly" scripts) I get joints in weird spots, missing joints, missing hangers, etc.

Did you ever figure out a reason why this was happening?

I'm not sure if we just always missed this but when I'm running large bore pipe everything comes in fine w/welds but if I put a small bore socket olet on I lose my welds on the large bore.

Like I said I never noticed it before but sure enough its happening.  I was just digging through the posts on here trying to find someone with a similar problem and this one seems pretty close.  Just wondering if you pinpointed it.

-Thanks,

We stopped really worrying about it and at some point I think it was "fixed" for the most part. We still have an issue with hangers, but we work around that until they hopefully fix it.
