Xref File Access Error

Does anyone know what could cause a "File Access Error" with an external reference? We can't detach and reattach because of multiple references and can't see the file to delete. We have tried to re-path the xref, but this did not seem to work either. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention in the above post, but this is only affecting one person in our group. I could open the same drawing and the xref appears just fine.

Does the one person have all the same permissions on the network as you?  could it be on a drive that they do not have access to?

Thanks for the response. We both have the same network permissions. In fact, a couple of those xrefs are in the same folder, but it's just that one file not coming through for him. As far as I know, this issue hasn't come up for anyone in our group before. It's just been happening recently to this one individual.
