Removing Copper Solder Joints From Being Placed
« on: May 24, 2019, 16:48:12 PM »
Is there a way to remove the solder joints from being placed as you put in fittings? I don't need them in my models.

find their CID number and delete them?  They may have the same number as couplings though so be careful.

you may be able to exclude them from fill. right-click on their picture and exclude. you can even exclude a whole tab if you like.

you could do a _MAPFILTER that searches for "Item source filename" "contains" "joint" and delete them all.  Again you must be careful as other items may have "Joint" in their name.

Modify connectors on pipe and/or fittings so they don't require the joint to be placed in between.

The problem is with the connectors. All my solder joints are male, which means all my copper fittings and pipe have female connectors.

Taking this further, we determined we would need new ITMs for solder vs brazed for tracking. They didn't affect our drawings enough to change. Also consider if your estimating team and other users, new costing would have to be applied if the labor rate is applied through the joint and not the fitting.

Hope this helps.

I made a short lisp. DJ for delete joints. Selects all solder and threaded joints and deletes them in the blink of an eye.

Could you share the lisp?

With pleasure ...

Code: [Select]
(defun C:dj ( / )
(mapfilter "#5025 = #58")
(command "erase")
(princ "\nAll joints of *Joint* service type have been erased.")
(princ)
)
