Label Machines
« on: Mar 19, 2020, 16:50:56 PM »
Has anyone tried using any of the newer label printers?
I kind of remember that they didn't work at one time.
These Epson printers look impressive.
We're still using the 2x3 sheets in a printer.

Not in color and not Epson.

We use a couple other similar brands more commonly used for industrial label printing like Sato.

We then switch rolls to different colors, colors with shapes/stripes, etc.

I'd prefer to switch to a color version like these but I haven't found a way to have color in CAMduct without reducing the data....as I recall, you have to define a "color" tile and dedicate space to it. I'd much prefer the ability to add it as a watermark/background where you could print over top of the color.

That's promising to hear.
Which model are you using?
Where are you buying your labels?

Quicklabel QL-120 with 4x6 labels.   All items are purchased from Quicklabel.  It is on the very fast side and full color.  Better yet you can make nice Wine/Beer labels if you want.

I can't think of a better use for a label printer.  ;D

If you don't need color labels consider a Zebra printer like the TZ230.

Wow, that about a $5,000 difference for color.
We may have to get by with the black&white.

Thank you all for the info.

One of the sales persons is asking for and output file so they can run some test samples on their printer.
Is there a way to export or pint to a file that could be printed on another printer?

Depends on the language the printer uses (e.g. ZPL, HPGL/2, etc).

Maybe just format a PDF for them and print to PDF?

The inkjet was nice and cost was comparable, but the paper is about 80-90% higher
It's .01-.02 cents a label for thermal and .09-.10 cents for inkjet labels.

Darren, Don, Gerin, what do you have? Direct Thermal or Transfer Thermal?
