Axl:
voted, for now the only way I'm able to access ancillaries is by python script inside Revit Dynamo, but we only do reading, I never tried to write to the ancillary info from Dynamo, I think it would be very useful to have the ancillary available directly to Schedules and reports from Revit.

PipeFitter72:
I have been reading hanger ancillary from Dynamo, and we use ancillary kits for hanger rod size.
You can use a drop down to change rod size.
I would like to see a drop down for type and quantity.
For example bolt and gasket sets on flanges, valves, etc.

Axl:
In our case we like the idea of having control over the information the user can change directly, if the ancillary is editable from the user side, they could then make mistakes on the number of bolts for instance, or the gasket, etc.

We grouped the ancillaries and created kits for each, then we just assign the kit to the valve, then the details, like the number of bolts is determine by the group they belong to, so the user can only run the script and read the information, this is more work for the DB admin in CAD (me) but avoid user level mistakes

We have 36 kits in total and covers 99.9% of the valves we use

sheetmetalman:
pipefitter72,
Are you guys using Ancillary reports?
And are your reports for trapeze, reading the correct quantities for rods? for some reason our ancillary reports only report 1 rod.

Also, I upvoted this on autodesks forum too.
