Trapeze issue in Revit
« on: Mar 14, 2022, 15:35:48 PM »
I am using Revit 2020 and ITM's and I am having a small issue.  When I try to make a trapeze hanger wider by choosing one of the rods at the top and sliding it wider, I get a red X when I click on the rod end and the whole trapeze moves.  Do I have something locked somewhere maybe?  Probably something easy but I am drawing a blank..... >:(

I just tried widening a trapeze in Revit 2020 in a 3d view and it works. I'd say to make sure that you are clicking on the blue node circle when dragging. The "X" in your screen shot is the snap intersection osnap icon.

I zoomed right in, even more than someone would and clicked on the blue circle.  The entire trapeze moves around.  I have tried it with hangers attached to the pipe and hangers floating in space.  Same result.  :'(

So I just tried this on some other trapeze itm's I have in my service and they actual work as they should.  Something is different with these certain hangers that is causing this issue.  Now to figure out what.....  Thanks for the help  :)

In the bottom left hand corner of your Revit session while your hovering over the blue node, does it say "Drag Rod End" like in my attached snap shot?

I checked and it does.  I am doing some testing now, but I am sure it has something to do with the hanger ITM itself in the database.  I will know soon.

most likely the dimension is locked in the ITM side

I thought the same thing but I checked and nothing.  But I did find the answer I believe.  I had a few trapeze that were setup using the ROUND profile and they were having this issue.  I switched them over to RECTANGULAR profile and now they work as they should.  Just a heads up if anyone else finds this problem.  Check the profile setting in the ITM in your database.

If you are using the "new" (1238 for trapeze) hanger patterns the stretch doesn't work in Revit. You need to be using the "old" 838 pattern.

This was the case when they first were released. I think it is still the issue, but I haven't tested it in a long while as we have just stuck to 838 patterns as this is not the only issue we had in Revit with the new patterns.

Thanks CNASH.  I am using the 838 CID as I remember well going through that new pattern issue.  That was awesome making all the new hangers in the 12XX numbers just to find out soon after they were all no good... :(

Yeah... The new patterns had loads of issues in Revit. One of the worse was that the hangers sloped when you had a sloped system. O_o

Well, that was horrifying.
First time trying to get trapeze hangers to work and I ran across this.

Why would you have to change the profile from Round to Rectangle on a Rectangler Bearer Trapeze. My hangers wouldn't stretch until I changed this setting.

Thanks for the fix btw, BitterFitter!

Now, to figure out why my clevice rods aren't stretching or how to make double strut trapeze.
