Best stable/least bug version of EST?
« on: Mar 17, 2022, 00:06:28 AM »
Given 2018 through 2022 ESTmep....what's the general consensus on the best version to use? (or least worst)

I'll respond here as well, I responded to your LI post.

2019 ESTmep here due to known bugs in the recent versions. 2019 has been the most stable for us for CAMduct and ESTmep.

So.... 2022 is pretty stable except for the flipped hangers/sleeves filling in designline along with the hangers/sleeves nodes placing based on constraint at time of placement instead of the constraint of line it's actually attached to.
There are some bugs that have been present since 2019 that are still present.
We are currently using 2022 and just making the modifications for hangers/sleeves issues. Hopefully these issues are fixed in the next release.

2020 Has been the most stable for us. I'm going through some testing with 2022, but prefer to remain a few versions behind, or the lowest Revit Project version, as our Estimating database is the same database used for Fabrication and replicated out per version.

2019 Designline has a bug when changing the criteria to lined. I think it doesnt work, there are other bugs that I cannot remember off the top of my head. 2020 has these issues fixed.

So, After doing some testing from 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 (for some reason I can't find any 2019 install files). It looks like I may be downgrading all of our production work to 2018. All the bugs that we experience in 2020 and on weren't present in 2018. I think I will have to do a workaround for the newer double wall duct functionality, but that's the only thing I can find which is way outweighed by a lot of other (mostly) designline issues.

I'm going to have to upgrade the database for 2023 for management due to the design side, but it shouldn't really affect the ESTmep side.

I'm going to have to upgrade the database for 2023 for management due to the design side, but it shouldn't really affect the ESTmep side.

As far as 2023 Database management I'm noticing that going from Rectangular to Round to Oval connectors in Database>Fittings>Connectors is broken. It never switches off of the rectangular connectors for me. I just put a ticket in today.

This applies to both EstMEP and CAMduct.

I have installs for 2017-2023. After just getting back into the swing of things, I think I'll be going back to 2018. Just tried to update ProdInfo in 2023 and 2026 and drove myself insane trying to get the correct formatting to change the date to match the updated price on Harrison Pricing Lists. Would be interested in sharing more notes and learning any tips you guys have had along the way. Don't know how to feel given it seems like there hasn't been any major improvements -_-

We asked our vendor Applied Software last year what version to move to. We were on 2020. They said to use 2024.
