export "User Custom Annotation Tags" Settings
« on: Dec 08, 2022, 14:48:18 PM »
Hi,
Is there a way to EXPORT that and IMPORT back to another station, or user?

I've seen one can export the grid to Excel, but to bring it back, do I have to "Copy/Paste" each cell to the new user?

Thanks

There is a way to export your settings, but it will overwrite the recipient's User Custom Anno Tags if they have any set up already. Navigate to the location below (put your username where the asterisk is)

C:\Users\*\AppData\Roaming\eVolve\eVolve Mechanical

There will be an XML file called "UserAnnotationTags.xml". If you place that file in the recipient's file, it will replace their Custom Tag settings with yours. It's not ideal, I would much prefer it operated the same as other settings with export/import buttons, but functionally it works the same as other eVolve configurations.

That is exactly what I was looking for.
Most of the time, it's for new users on a new Evolve setup, so nothing to overwrite.
Thanks cawhilton,
Very appreciated.

**Edit: Just opennned the xmlx file and realized that the path saved in that file is the "Real" path.

I use a "symbolic link" to map all the users to the same Fake path "C:\Evolve-Setup" pointing to wherever the setup files are stored, either in a sharepoint or local, or on a shared network folder. That way, the setup is always the same, no matter the client, the user, or the environment.
So, I guess I'll have to keep copy/paste from excel for those tags.
