MEP Fabrication Hanger Rod Dissimilarities
« on: Dec 19, 2022, 13:15:47 PM »
Greetings,

While I am trying to get a hold on the database issues here, I have come across a strange anomaly. I have placed a hanger on a 6" carbon steel pipe with 1-1/2" of insulation and a hanger on a 10" carbon steel pipe with no insulation. The hanger is coming in at 10" size for both items, but the rod diameter is different.

I have the O29 Use Support Settings set to yes, and have the O7 Drop Rod Diameter property hidden in the product list as I know that was a cause for problem from other users reportings. I made sure that the Id is specific to the hanger, and has been saved to the prodinfo.map file as to keep it's properties distinct from other items in the database.

The .itm hanger properties are attached along with FabicationMEP reports. I am wondering if anyone knows where this is coming from?

Admin Edit:
Attachments have been removed now that query has been answered as they were extremely large and eating up bandwidth.

It seems like Revit stretches' correctly the hanger due to the insulation, but fails to read the rod's specification for the bigger hanger, the hanger is keeping the 6" rod diameter of the pipe.

Sorry no solution that I know of, we use an Dynamo script that evaluates the hanger and set the rod diameter

The support size breakpoints are pipe diameter, not hanger size and are a less than equal to. What size pipe did you use with insulation? It looks smaller than the the pipe without.

EDIT: Sorry, you added pipe size. The 6in pipe size hanger looks correct based off your support breakpoints.

Axl and bobcat,

Thanks for the replies and the insight. It's good to know that it is working as it should.
