Hangers and Labels
(1/1)
RDS:
How would I go about getting a label printed out for the clevis hangers and riser clamps? I have the labels created for the unistrut as I'm sending them to a tool and are being cut. As the piece of strut is cut then the label is generated. But what about the riser clamps and clevis hangers?
APD-DB:
I have never been that happy with the labels fields that are available. We do a dataexport to csv. Then use macros in excel to get to feet and inches, we found the macros on the internet. Then use Word to create the labels…we use an Avery chemical label that works perfect, doesn’t rip or smear.
It’s not a perfect process but produces the info we need to mass fabricate hangers that don’t require any cutting in the field.
dopefish:
I currently use a worksheet set up for 2-5/8 x 1 envelope labels. I just print it like any other report.
Are you using some sort of integration to cut the rods automagically on the single hung supports?
Joe Kuhr:
RDS,
Are you using the GTP Stratus Workstation to generate a ZPL label as you cut the strut?
We have our Stratus Workstation for hangers set up to generate 3 labels for strut hangers (one for the strut, rod A, rod B). For clevis and loop hangers, we set up Stratus to generate a label for the single rod. On the label for the rod, we include the clevis/loop hanger type and size.
Word, Excel, and macros also work really well, but in this case, I do think just native Stratus will do the trick. You may need a custom Field or two, and/or use a User Data slot under Cut List Mapping.

Found the solution as what you have stated. Got the label (report) created in STRATUS. One issue the shop is telling me when they run the report (label) all the labels print out at one time. If we have 500+ clevis hangers that's going to be a mess. What are your work arounds?
Thanks,
Ryan
