Support family that snaps onto pipe

I've got multiple jobs that have horizontal piping in a foam built-up slab.  I used to have a nice riser clamp style clamp in CAD that would snap onto the pipe and you could drag the rod down to TOC so you could show the supports to deck.
In Revit, I do not have that ITM hanger anymore so I was trying to make a family that would snap onto the pipe so I could show the supports for coordination and reference for install.  But I can not find a way to get a family to snap to the pipe or pipe centerline.  I can definitely make it connect to pipe end with connectors but I was hoping there was a way to get a family to snap to the pipe like our ITM hangers do.

We recently had this same type of scenario come up for us. I grabbed our old riser clamp .itm's that I abandoned when we switched to Revit after reading Darren's post about how to get them to work properly in Revit. https://www.darrenjyoung.com/2023/10/08/fabrication-parts-riser-clamps-in-revit-problems-solutions/

This let me place our riser clamps on the pipe like we used. Then I switched into section/elevation view and rotated the riser clamp 180° (ensuring the disjoin option was checked). The support rods then snap to the top of structure just like it does to bottom of structure if placed properly. The riser clamp is not associated to the pipe and they move independently from one another, but it got the job done.

I know this doesn't address your question about families snapping to pipe, but figured I'd share what I did in this situation.

I have attached a family to show how our support families are created.

I first created a Generic Model family to create the Geometry. This is then inserted into Generic Model Adaptive family, Not Shared.

The Adaptive family will snap to and host on the pipe centre line. If you later move the pipe the clip will move.

A disadvantage is that if you change the length of the pipe the family will creep along the pipe.
You can unhost it after placement by moving the family and tick Disjoin but it will revert to its natural orientation without a host. We have a button on our in house tools to unhost. I think it records its location and orientation, deletes it, places a new family unhosted and placed into the location of the hosted one.

That's awesome.  Thank you.  I'll get into this.  being able to do this may solve a bunch of issues for me...
