How do radius elbow splitters work
« on: May 09, 2024, 19:49:59 PM »
Can someone explain exactly HOW splitters on radius elbows actually work? I'm definitely not a newbie here, but for the life of me I am unable to get a satisfactory result. Please let me know if I am wrong here, but I would imagine a splitter in a radius elbow would have tabs that would have holes in said tabs which could be bent so screws could be put thru the corresponding holes in my elbow cheek thru the holes in the tabs. I am unable to figure out how to get the holes to wind up on the tabs! Any help or insight here would be most appreciated! Cam 2024, same result on 2025.

Issue: The tab is not considered part of the turnover. That known, the holes will never be able to be placed on the tabs. Perhaps the tabs are more so for welded systems.

Possible solution: Remove tab settings. Increase your width adjustment aka turnover. The distance is divided among both sides. Then set your hole inset as needed (half of your width adjustment would center your holes). In your case a 1" turnover may be difficult to manufacture, while not efficient, manually notching will have to be done.

That was pretty much what I had determined, but it's just impractical for us. Thanks for the response!!

This is our splitter with holes. Been a long time since I set it up so the details are a dim memory.
But you can check our settings.

I know it is an old post. But I have a question about the aube width. As we saw the setting will add the holes on the coude and on aubes, but the width of the aubes are very tight, it is the width of the conduit minus the thickness of the material. Is there any way to give more gap between the aubes and the conduit? I prefer the aubes are -0.2'' than the conduit.

Thanks.

The "Width Adjust" value shown in the above settings should adjust the width of your Blades (aubes).

Thanks for your reply. If I change the width Adjust to 2-0.2=1.8, then it will change the teeth width to 0.9'' but the middle width is still 9.978(almost the same width as the conduit 10''). What I want is keep the teeth width 1'' but reduce the middle to 9.8''. Is there a way to do it?

we do the same thing for our splitter vanes too.
Just check to make sure your liner settings are correct to adjust the splitter vanes the way you like.

We are having issues with the piercing holes in the cheeks of the below.

Does anyone have any input on how to get the burn table to pierce the holes? I tried delays and everything and I'm doing something wrong.

It's been a while since I played with this but in the machine setup under tools there are settings for "Pierce Size" & "Ignore Size" these will affect what size holes it will either Pierce, Cut, or ignore.
You might try adjusting these to see if it helps.

I don't get it. There is no liner dans le duct so how can we adjust the splitter by changing the liner settings? Could you give more details pls?
