duct construction

is it cheaper to use thicker sheet metal or use lighter metal with tie rods in duct construction

Thicker metal. We have reworked our standards to eliminate reinforcing where possible. Another thing we have done is use shorter pieces.

Also, if using TDF or DuctMate you could lighten it a bit...
