Best pattern to use for pipe flanges that don't delete

have used the original flange itms as my basis for creating flanges, however revit is too clever and deletes the flange if the item its connected to is deleted. (i understand why but it can be very frustrating, especially to new users :-)

i know i can pin flanges etc but i was just wondering if there's a better pattern to look to create pipe flanges from that won't delete if the flange it's connected to is deleted or the fitting (if weld neck) is deleted.

many thanks

What version of Revit? I believe they changed this behavior in recent releases.

Wouldn't change a thing, this is how Autodesk changed the design of the program. Valves, welds, same behaviour. Pinning is the only way or split the pipe and add the flanges that way.
