Report filter for "doesn't contain"

Trying to make a filter in a report that reports items that do not contain a value say "TDC". This would include variations of TDC. I see the exclamation mark and the Not operators but this one has be stumped.

i am not at my work computer but I think????    not "*TDC*"     or maybe       <> "*TDC*"

That works. How to use the ! is where I was struggling with this. I couldn't figure the syntax. Thanks!
