ESTMEP 2025 Designline Size Conditions issue
« on: Aug 14, 2025, 00:59:40 AM »
Recently updated ESTMEP 2025 and noticed that some items were not populating with the designline.
I've found that when a condition is applied but ticked with further customisation, the behaviour respects the original condition, removing the condition to restricted and only use the customised restriction fixes the issue. This wasn't a problem in the past.

A little more information that might help other users. I use the same button code for our hanger specifications and control the support type using the size conditions within each service template.
After updating to the latest 2025 update, I also found the same issue in ESTMEP 2026. The conditions for <= ignores the Equals too part if a supports configuration is applied to it. If there are no supports added, the conditions work as expected.
im seeing steel supports being added to copper, increasing our estimates and costs.
As a temp workaround, i have had to increase the <= to act like a < condition.
Would like to hear if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

Just tried this in ESTmep 2024. I also had to remove my Support specification condition and use "further customize restriction" to force specific hangers on CU vs Steel. Also, these restrictions had to be adjusted to include insulation thickness. Did you also have to account for this Craig? Screenshot attached.

I can't remember if this was an issue in the past either. I thought support specifications referenced pipe diameter but, I could be wrong. Hopefully some others give this a try.

Hey Tyler,

Re: Insulation adjustments... No I haven't had to do this as we have the adjustment for insulation switched off.

More about that here:

Hello Craig,

I have been looking at this thread and tried to reproduce the same issue (using version 2026.1), I am not seeing the behavior you are reporting though... I am probably missing a step or two here.

It would be useful for me to get one of your Services where the issue is reproducible, would this be possible?

Thanks!

Hello Craig,

Thanks for the files. I just took a look and found out what is happening.
The conditions are >not< based on the nominal diameter, they are triggered according to the pipe OD instead. In your sample job, the pipe nominal diameter is 100 mm, OD is 101,6 mm -> this is the diameter evaluated by the supports conditions hence it applies the steel hangers.

As you mentioned it was behaving differently in previous releases, I need to check internally what changed.

Hello Craig,

I don't see any difference in previous releases, at least back to 2021.
When you say "After updating to the latest 2025 update", what version were you using before? And if you open the same sample job you provided in the previous version, do you see different hangers being applied?

Our deployment has been 2017 to 2020 to 2025. The behavior respected the Name condition and I dont see any notes suggesting that this now picks up the OD size.

Thank you for letting me know, I will run through and update.
