Fabrication Database General Organization and Folder Structure

(1/1)

Engelhab123:
I recently got a job where a large part of my time is spent managing an existing fabrication database with many piping and sheet metal services, service templates, and ITM content. Almost all of what has been already set up prior to me getting here has mostly been for drawing purposes in Revit and the actual manufacturing part to be used in the shop and with CAMduct is still to be configured. My question is from a purely organizational standpoint what are some tips and tricks that you have learned the hard way and what can I and anybody else in a similar role to me look to do to alleviate headaches down the line? I'm talking about things like file structures, naming conventions, and profile management to make starting new jobs easier and eventually make setting up and overseeing the automated manufacturing side of actually getting these items to fab right afterwards in CAMduct easier.

Thanks in advance for any input offered, hopefully this topic will help a lot of people in similar scenarios.

I am going to suggest reviewing presentation that were done at Autodesk university over the years. Just watch everything related to Fabrication software.    https://www.autodesk.com/autodesk-university/search
