Unlocking options on a pattern

I am working on building or updating some Fire dampers to show the actuator using pattern 501 and being able to change sides on it. I've got the control type added but I am having trouble being able to change sides.  It looks like those options are locked/greyed out.  Does anyone know how to unlock these options on pattern 501.  See attachment

When they get greyed out I typically just rebuild the part to gain access.  Since this appears to be in AutoCAD, you can access the fields via scripting
