Need to Oversize Clevis Hangers but how?
« on: Jan 28, 2026, 16:51:30 PM »
Specifications and notes require us to oversize clevis hangers by 1" after insulation has been accounted for. Example: 2" pipe with 1" insulation is 4" nominal. This would result in a 5" clevis hanger.

Clevis hangers account for the pipe and insulation and pick the size that is needed. The 1" extra is where the issue lies. If I try to change the Bearer Thickness of the hanger, it applies it to everything which doesn't work.

The only way I can think of around this is to make the insulation 1/2" thicker (1" all the way around) to trick the software. That is a coordination/clash issue as well.

Anyone run into this one?

You can try using Block thickness. I use that for the hangers that come with insulation blocks in them. It should force you hanger up to the next size.

Thank you. That was way easier than I could have imagined.
