Change MEP Fabrication Hanger Insertion Point
« on: Feb 02, 2026, 15:44:42 PM »
I am using Trimble Field Points to add in Field points for our hangers.

The option for placing points on fabrication parts works for round strap hangers since the insertion point and the physical hanging point is in the center.
But any rectangular strap or trapeze hangers I have to manually place points on the two ends. Is there any way I can change the insertion point to the nodes of the rods/strap to each side of the hanger?

I understand I can select custom points instead of insertion point. But that does not work as it only works correctly for that specific duct width.

Has anyone figured this one out? Getting tired of manually clicking a 400-500 hundred points every time.

Since you guys are using VM, the point parameters are already there for any MEP element in Revit. No embedding, manual placement, movement, or external software such as Trimble Field Points or APL is required. Simply schedule the elements along with the desired point parameters. Get with your Trimble rep or check their documentation for proper format (column order), then simply export the Schedule to CSV. File > Export > Reports > Schedule. Choose CSV from the File Type Drop Down. All the power of Revit Schedules are now with you in your point exports.
