Unable to open dxf
« on: May 10, 2007, 19:51:06 PM »
I have a 5mb dwg with CADmech and CADduct product and convert to a .dxf file. Once it is done, the .dxf is 200mb, and I got error message to open it.

Error in APPID Table
DXF read error on line 220576
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.

Any solution?

Start a new drawing, with NO TEMPLATE loaded, and try DXFIN.

The file is much too large to hand-edit, and I've only successfully fixed a single DXF file (ever), so I think that option is out.  Have you tried using Autodesk's free program called TRUECONVERT?

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=6703438&siteID=123112

It "might" produce a cleaner DXF file.  Also, there are issues with saving a drawing made in 2007/2008 down to 2002 or lower, and then converting to DXF.

When Making a DXF, make sure and bind/explode your XREFS, and to purge out everything that isn't needed.  You can also hand-select what you want to DXF out... This would help you figure out where your problem lies.  Make 2 DXFs, each containing 1/2 of the drawing... see which one fails to open.
