Oversize Check
« on: Feb 09, 2005, 16:15:59 PM »
Since the last version update our shop is not getting prompted at auto nesting as to oversize fittings. If the shop foreman does a manual nest it works but he very seldom does this. Is anyone else experiencing problems in this area?

Andy: if you read this post there was some discussion in Vegas last year about having the option to be able to set the segmenting to other parameters other than sheet size (ie: brake size). Has any more consideration been given to adding some options?

Dennis.
The update will not cause the issue, the option is switchable in the Main Database/Oversize. I suspect someone has turned the switch off. (usually someone in Cad as they dont want to be prompted when the Export To CAM is selected).

I cant think of any changes to Oversize, I will check though

Andy:
We all run on local drive databases that are copied once per day. In the database we have the option "check for oversize before nesting" checked, but it is not prompting the shop for segmenting options at the time he nests the CAM for production.

Thanks

Is the option "Automatically use these settings without prompting" at the bottom of the dialogue checked?

Ok, good, It must be then that when the job is saved from CAD, the operator is being prompted to accept the Oversized parts.
Once it has been split, it will not need splitting again when its time to nest, hence no prompt.
The way to force this to prompt would be for the CAM operator to select ALL the parts in Job Contents, then right click and select "Change Specification" might say "Pressure Class", simple click OK without changing anything, this will redevelop the parts, then when he nests they will require breaking down.
