Oval Tees and Crosses
« on: Feb 06, 2009, 22:12:29 PM »
I am currently using the Equivalent table for oval sizing. Since gauges change as sizes change, I have run into a problem.
A size that would be undersized according to 16ga has an actual minor dimension of -.3 from nominal, the tap however, which is in the Equivlance table as if it to be 20ga, has a minor dimension of -.2 from nominal.
Needless to say the fitting can't be made because the tap is larger than the body. Is there a way to use the Equivelancy table in conjunction with a Material Specific table? Or in these cases do we have to do the old Cybermation routine and enter the exact dimension that we need?

mmmmm.... the program is actually showing the TAP to be a different gauge than the body? I have not seen that happen on our end, the whole fitting adheres the gauge of the body...

There is a current bug in the software that is not letting us select taps that have the same MINOR as the body, it will create bogus nests, I have contacted MAP on this....

How are you achieving the program to select a gauge for the body and a different one for the taps?

The gauge is the same, but the size from the effetive Diameter table is making the Minor of the tap larger than the minor of the body. This is because the tap size would be made of a thinner gauge if it was say the large end of a reducer or the size of an elbow. I guess we may have to rework our Effective Diameter table to keep all the minors the same instead of undersizing them.

I'm still confused, the gauges are all the same, the program does not know to assign a lighter gauge to the tap, so it is not a gauge difference the problem, but perhaps in the Effective Diameter Table.

Can you post a pic of the problem?
