weight per hanger point
« on: Feb 24, 2009, 14:30:15 PM »
Does anyone know if it is possible to have the system calculate and report the point loads per hanger point?
Thanks,
Susan McCurdy

That's funny because i have to do the same thing for a goverment military job. It's in the spec that we supply a drawing with all hanger point loads.

I was working on a combo lisp/macro linked to SMACNA tables for weights by guage.  Maybe I should dip back into it.  Point loads suck!  :x

You can use the cog attribute.....to give you the weight, and you can divide it x number of hangers.Scripting is also another source

Does anyone know if the program has implemented this yet other than COG and scripting?  I'm not against that, I just figured in the limited time I have I'd see if it's been programmed yet before I try to attempt the script. :)

Thanks!

If you great a C text report that reports the total weight of items selected. You would have to make a report for each hanger spacing. 4', 5', etc. You can use the calc field to take the weights and divide by the footage Just a thought.

If anyone has a program, or knows if CADmech can do hanger loads, after the hangers have been placed ...please let me know...as in the original post for this thread...we do this alot and havent found a way, or are nto aware if CADmech can do this...using the cog is not the same as hanger point load

thanks
