Free Navisworks Exporter (NWC files) for All
« on: Nov 07, 2009, 00:20:51 AM »
I dunno if you guys saw this one, but Autodesk is providing a free NWC exporter that works in various other applications without requiring a Navisworks licence.  You should definitely be checking this out.

it gives you the ability to participate in 3d coordination efforts utilizing Navisworks, without actually buying Navisworks.

Freedom views NWDs.  This Utility creates NWC's.  Basically, you can give this link out to people that don't have Navis, and still incorporate their models into your models without them having to purchase Navisworks.

From the Augi Forums:

The NWC exporter works with a range of products, including:

AutoCAD®-based products
Revit®-based products
Autodesk® 3ds Max® software
MicroStation® software
ArchiCAD® software

Back in the day, Freedom used to read NWCs.  It was undocumented, but it was pretty awesome.

Of course, the modern-day work around is to just push up the NWCs to someone running a Navis seat and have them publish for you.  The preferred method of payment for such services is usually only a beer or 2

.  This is what makes this utility so cool... If you happen to be the guy making NWD's for everyone, this gets people to do some of your work for you.

Cheers.

Older and wiser - President at C2B INC (formerly CC2BL INC). Wondering how long I can get away with my 2018 lifetime CAD MEP combo licence. Squeaking by with a circa 2012 HP EliteBook 8760w with a new motherboard, second solid state drive and Windows 10 upgrade.

Fish, in my time of using CADduct, I have only seen 2, maybe 3, jobs with other trades in 3D.  If/when a client needs this for a job, I will be sure to add it to my fee.
