ADT drawings colour manipulation
« on: Oct 27, 2003, 11:51:38 AM »
I currently have a job that will be created using CADduct solids. The architect has provided a 3d model using ADT for our background purposes. When that file is xreffed into our caduct file and 2d plans and sections are created, we need to differentiate between the building and the services. This is done by changing all the layer colours in the architects file to one light grey colour so that, once printed, all the building appears in a thin pen. However, this cannot be done if, as in the ADT file we have been sent, there are blocks that contain different colours to the light grey required. Is there a way that we can change the colour properties contained within these blocked 3d elements without having to explode and remove the intelligence associated with them?

As far as we are aware it's much the same as any other drawing...
In layer manager select the layers you require (all if you want) and change the colour to 8, 9, or whatever. You will probably have to force a regen for the new colours to take effect.
We tried this on ADT.2 and ADT.3.3 and it worked fine!
One important point:- this must be done on a full version of ADT - it will not work if you do not have ADT and are merely viewing the drawing through the ADT object enabler.
I do NOT offer support to forum postings via email, IRC or any form of instant messaging network. If you want help, ask here!

I have determined that it is possible to alter ADT objects globally, however, it would appear that you cannot alter 'different' objects at the same time.
Such as door frames & walls. Each object must be changed separately
I am using a full installation copy of ADT 2004.
This is the procedure I went through to alter object colours.
Select object
right mouse click
select 'edit (object name) style'
select 'display properties' tab
click button on right (edit display properties)
select all 'display component' layers
change colour to 9 (or whichever colour you require objects to be relevant to plot styles)
select ok
select ok
Your objects should have now changed to the selected colour.
