Navis Quick Properties
« on: Jul 18, 2010, 16:59:53 PM »
Does anyone know what settings I need to see feet and inches when I use the Navis Quick Properties. For example when I select duct I get T=152 or pipe it reads BOP=135. I would like it to read in feet and inches.

Thanks in Advance. :(

No such switch. What you see in ACAD properties is what you get in quick properties as far as I know.

But he could change his level text format in the database and units in Autocad to see what he wants in Navis.

Not going to get top and bottom only centerline, please post a pic of it coming up with feet and inches as I have tried and never was able to get these results.

You are correct Bob. Will not display in feet and inches. It must use the units settings which is inches. If you set units to feet you will get a decimal output. And it does just give centerline.
I don't use Quick Properties that much so went and checked with a power user.

You can get Navis to report in feet and inches. Don't use level blocks and only use top or bottom (not both) for elevation in the level text databse setting. Set Navis.to feet and inches in the units option. See attachement. I don't have a motion screen capture to get the quick properties but I did a still shot of the properties box.

Ok, I figured what your doing. You're nwding out. Practicing this method does work.
For some reason loading a dwg looses info.

I went one step further and left top/bott in the database and nwd out and it displayed top elevation in feet and inches.Good to know ,but goes against the whole nwf format for refreshing easily.

Right about the nwdout. Sorry I forgot to mention that. Seems like there should be a an easier way to get feet and inches to show in Navis, rather than having to remove the level block name in the service and change database settings. Is this something for the wish list?

Bob, don't you use level blocks?

Just for tagging steel and grease duct. To be honest I very seldom during coordination use the elevation property... can be had just by measuring bottom of objects.

NWC out has the same results (feet and inches).

If you detail each level at 0,0,0 and elevate your floors in Navis, most level blocks aren't necessary (outside of some nice tricks I've seen here and not used as of yet).

Other than slab-depressions, and sub-floors, I rarely use them myself.
