Title: Has anyone implemented Revit Fab parts for plumbing?

Just curious who's made the jump to Revit Fabparts for modeling, coordination and fabrication for plumbing and what workflows you've implemented for hangers, spools, trimble etc.

Yes, we are 1 year in now. Never looked back.

We had a mixture of Revit and CADmep guys.
For just modeling our CADmep guys were up to speed in a week but they took quite a while to get the hang of setting up drawing and views etc. Its quite a learning curve. If you just want to model you only need to learn about 3pc of Revit.
The Revit guys fell into two camps. Some of them embraced it straight off due to having all the content we use available to them and not having to trawl the internet for something that looks familiar to the part they want and kind of works. Some of them complained, such as "I could do that with families" or "Its a pain having to reload my database when you add parts into service". It boils down to them moaning that they cant fudge it if it wont work in the real world and having their content managed so they dont fudge it.

We use Families for Plant, Equipment and Hangers.
We have created automated routines using the Revit API for spooling.
We are going to look at integrating with our Total Stations for setting out. I envisage a Family that can just be viewed in a schedule of coordinates.

BTW we create and manage all our own content and that part of the transition was straight forward.
If you have a solid content database that all works together you should have no problem but if your content is a bit iffy and you have gotten use to canceling connector / specification mismatch errors etc in CADmep you might have some corrections to make.

One tip that we fell foul of is split your models up into manageable chunks at the start. We have found that if you have more than a couple of people working in a single model syncing takes an age and work can be lost.
Also once you start a model in a particular Database its locked to that Database forever. It is in Version 2017 anyway.

We are using fab parts for several major jobs. It's been a tough start but find 2018.3.1 is the most bug-free and stable version. Our issues are have been mixed general bugs and fabrication setup. Most of our straights are sent straight to the decoiler. Pops and shoes are manually placed as this saves on time, but the maj doesn't show dimensions to the hole. A request I would like to have this information placed on the sticker.
I've built Trimble markers into all Revit families used for setting out points in the field. The Victaulic tool for Revit has been working great for our spooling needs.
