Title: CADduct Help Book
Post by: sasint01 on Oct 28, 2009, 10:02:43 AM
Hi all,

Im looking for a little CADduct help book. I understand i have the help menu with CADduct, but for other people learning CADduct they find this hard to find solutions to problems.

Does any have an PDF document with all instructions on how to use the main functions of CADduct. Stuff like adding parts to CADduct, Setting up new service grouping , mainly database instructions rather than actual service co-ordination help.............

I followed the link to the UGM 09 Power Point presentations, but all that I can see is a series of slides identifying the topics to be presented - no actual instructions.  Am I not viewing it correctly, or is that all there is, and if so, is there another site which does contain the actual details and instructions?  Thanks for any info.

These are all .PPS files that you will have to have power point to open.

These are just the power point slides and contain no real instructions unless you know what they are talking about.

Ya, I don't understand the purpose of these slides, they don't seem to contain any real useful information.

On a similar note, I got an email today stating that Autodesk University will have "virtual" web based events for those that can't make it to Vegas this year.  Highlights will be free for everyone.  Or for $99 (free for subscription customers) one will have full access to 50+ classes, keynotes, & other premium content streamed live, plus access to 350 on-demand sessions post-event.  Now that's awesome.

The PowerPoints are provide to support the information that was discussed during the event.  The information is not training material.  The PowerPoints are intended for those who attended the event as reinforcement to what was presented.  The TSI User Group Meeting is designed for Customer interaction and networking and to better understand how others are benefiting from the Software.  To better understand the PowerPoints one would have needed to attend the event.

That is real nice.  I may have to look around during that.  Time permitting of course :D

Not sure what is expected....AutoDesk spends over $20 million on AU.... I am sure the UG tab is no where near that.....

I don't understand why you quoted me and gave that response?
I was just telling gambitjr to have patience and wait for Jim to respond.  3 posts in a row all to Jim about the same thing.

Telling people they have to go to the UGM to get things that their support contracts should provide, in my opinion, is a cop out.

I understand you would like people to attend the UGM but paying for it out of our own pockets is ridiculous because we don't own the software. Sorry Ken and Kenny, I know you guys own your own companies.

We just want some simple explanations to the new features of the software, if you really are looking out for us and not playing games try working with us and not playing with us.

Even though AU spends a healthy amount of money putting on their UGM, I don't think this thread is meant to compare the two companies, we just want to have some content that was explained at this years UGM. Because if it isn't there will be more and more emails plugging up the mailbox of MAP-CC with questions on the new features of the software.

Tstright...
a good synopsis of  what was covered at the UG could be mass emailed to all the subscribers (nowhere near 20 million dollars), also changes to the programs could be incorporated...i dont think that something along these lines is that much to ask...you cant just demand that everyone go to the UG every year or be lost concerning new features...new tips and tricks...what is on the horizon for MAP etc....keep the users involved, and feeling part of the process, not on the outside looking in...if they ask for info, tutorials, etc., they should be available...once done this could be a potential source of revenue for TSI and MAP

I think the frustration relating to the User Group Meeting is that people are asking things of the UGM that are not part of the planning and design of the event.  I have explained to all here what the UGM event is about
Quote
The TSI User Group Meeting is designed for Customer interaction and networking and to better understand how others are benefiting from the Software
. We will again look at adding a streaming webcast aspect to the User Group Meeting in 2010.  The reason we decided not to pursue such web casting is because it goes against the purpose for which the event was created and the intent of User Interaction would be lost.

New release information is published by MAP and republished on the TSI Content Site.  Support information related to the new features is provided by contacting MAP Customer Care.  If people are demanding more information about the new features MAP Customer Care can develop programs to address that need.  TSI also offers consulting services that can help companies with implementation.

I have posted two videos related to the Future direction of the software which is reference again below.
Video 1
TSI User Group Meeting Opening Comments

Video 2
Building Data Content provided by www.Building-Data.net is a partner company of Technical Sales International headed by Lewis Wolcott.  BIM requires quality data and will not be realized without a full commitment to consistent rich data content. TSI has released an updated release of over 49,000 items this week.  Additionally, TSI announced that we would release an enhanced data set that will included more BIM information and will include over 120,000 items.  The release is expected before the end of the year.

As for comparing TSI UGM to AU, I will leave that to the Users to choose which is right for their personal business development.

Thanks Jim.

Questions... Where is it located? I don't see anything that matches that description on the TSI file system.  The 49,000 items, does any of that relate to duct?
