Layer States

I'm a new user to CADduct.  Previously, in 2D ACAD, I utilized pre-defined Layer States extensively.  Thus far, I've not found a realistic way to maintain these Layer States, due to the great number of potential layers.  Has anyone else found a way to utilize the pre-defined Layer States?
