Revit to Navisworks
« on: Apr 20, 2023, 16:20:09 PM »
Has anyone found an add-inn where you can export from revit to navis and in navis you can just refresh the model. Right now I export to NWC from revit, but need to delete that nwc from the navis model and reload. Looking for something similar to cad, when you make a change you save or sync, and if that dwg is loaded into navis, you would just refresh the model.

Thanks,
Shaun

Append in the RVT, just like a dwg when you save the rvt/dwg in navis click refresh

We are exporting a NWC regularly via the Add-ins tab in Revit.  When we refresh Navis, it loads the new file.

If you are deleting the file because you are getting a write error, it may be that someone has their write settings not setup correctly.

Agree with Ken, set your settings as per the page he has added. The important feature in here is to tick the box close nwc file on load / close.
I've been a Navis user for 15 years or more and always push these same settings out to the team.

Thanks for the information. It was that setting in the nwc export that was preventing the refresh.

Thanks,
Shaun

Append in the RVT, just like a dwg when you save the rvt/dwg in navis click refresh

Only problem with this route is how long it will take to refresh the RVT file on larger projects. I find its quicker to have a 3D view set up with a template and have it open in a corner of one of my monitors, click inside of it and have a hot key to nwc export, usually it will take you to the folder where the previous exports are. This is quicker than waiting for navis to refresh the RVT. That's just my experience though.
