How are Revit Worksets being used
« on: Oct 04, 2024, 16:46:48 PM »
Just curious how are people using Revit Worksets. Especially on Large Projects with multiple people working in the same file.
Are you using the Specify Feature to only open specific Worksets?
Do you make the Workset you are on Editable or just use borrowing?

We currently have individual user worksets and use borrowing but we are looking for a better workflow.

We are using them for systems/links/deck layout/seismic/etc to assist in easy visibility control for deliverables but also a very helpful thing to use it for are things like Control Points or Trimble Points that you don't want visible except in your views that are using them for trimble deliverables.  So you uncheck "visible in all views" and they will only be visible in your Trimble view templates.

Our worksets are really basic and is intended this way.
Duct, Pipe, Buildersworks, Risers, MEP Links, Architectural and Structural Links. are all the default ones.
Duct and Pipe is divided to separate the duct MEP Hangers from the Pipe.
Revit is usually good for up to 50,000 elements. Anything more than that you should consider splitting up the model.
Detailing work usually requires all MEP links to be switched off, this speeds up the process on areas that dont need coordinating and performance is the primary driver for our worksets.
If point clouds are being used, they will go onto their own workset, and users make sure this is closed when not in use.
Yes we use the specify option, opening a new model for the first time I would suggest closing all worksets and then open or close what you don't use to speed up the performance as mentioned earlier.
