Upgrade to CAMduct 2024?
« on: Nov 22, 2024, 18:29:48 PM »
I would like to know if this is OK to upgrade to CAMduct 2024.

Currently, we are using CAMduct 2019.  Unfortunately, Autodesk doesn't support this version anymore.  We need to upgrade to a more recent version that Autodesk still supports.  The current version of CAMduct is 2025.  As of now, Autodesk still supports CAMduct 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Because we don't want to get involved with bleeding edge technology, we probably want to stay away from CAMduct 2025.  Seem like we "may" want to upgrade to CAMduct 2024.

Do you see anything wrong about upgrading to CAMduct 2024?  Please let me know.  Thanks.

By the way, we are currently using CADmep 2023, and Revit 2021/2022/2023/2024.  I am under the impression that the version of CAD software doesn't really matter regarding which version of CAMduct to use -- as long as both CAD and CAM use the same version of Fabrication Database.  CAMduct should be both backward and forward compatible with the MAJ files exported from different versions of CAD.  I mention this just in case the version of CAD turns out to have an impact of which version of CAMduct to use.

We are on 2024 as it was recommended for us to upgrade to that version by Applied Software. We were on 2020 prior to this. Are jobs are spread out from 2020 to 2024 currently.

Thanks for letting me know that you have upgraded to CAMduct 2024 and that is the version of CAMduct that Applied Software has recommended.  I assume this means there is no problem with this version of CAMduct.

May I ask you why sending MAJ job files to CAMduct 2020 and 2024?  Are some MAJ files exported from older version of CADmep/Revit (like 2020) that you prefer to send them to CAMduct 2020?  Did you encounter some compatibility problems when you expect from CADmep/Revit 2020 to CAMduct 2024?

Thanks in advance for any follow-up on this issue.

I wouldn't say 2024 is trouble free. They did recommend it though for what it is worth.

We aren't using both versions, just 2024.  I did just download 2020 to do some testing since we are seeing issues that we hadn't seen before. I am going to see if it a version difference or something else.

Thanks for explaining this.

This means I need to text CAMduct 2024 using our MAJ files to make sure there is no problem.
