Snapping Systems together (Is there a way?)
« on: Mar 22, 2025, 08:11:45 AM »
Just wondering if there is a trick I am missing, but sometimes we might model pipe headers in isolation etc.
in the old cad days we would just select all items and then select the node of one fitting and connect it to the node of the other fitting and this would connect the systems together. (x,y,z etc)

is there a trick to do this in revit so when i tab through the system they are all connected? (i have work arounds that sometimes involves deleting .itms and cutting in new itms and dragging etc)

this isn't a gripe or a moan I am just wondering if there is something I am not doing correctly.

much appreciated

I thought there was one but it must be part of Evolve.

You can move it to the node then stretch it to that part to get it to connect. The only problem with this method is when you have something like welded pipe, it would make it a little smaller when it is a full stick for the weld.

We use a free bunch of tools thats been discussed on here before.

https://apps.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Detail/Index?id=7667497332723137201&appLang=en&os=Win64

There's a Move Connect tool that's just gold.

MICLOGIC VDC Tools had some free use available, one of those tools allowed a whole selection of the model and reconnected all broken connections after reloading a model. I cant get the MICLOGIC tools to work these days or perhaps they are no longer free.

That is correct. Virtual Mechanical no longer has a free version. You can get a free demo of the professional version from our website. VM 2025 has been available since last year.

You can bastardise it. Copy the contents from "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Symetri Naviate LT.bundle\Contents\Windows\2024"
Paste into "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2025"

No you can't, that doesn't work.

Hi Steven,

Your knowledge in this area is far greater than mine, but in this case you are wrong.
This is how I have and many others have Naviate working within 2025.

I was talking about Virtual Mechanical specifically.

I am a bit surprised this is working for Naviate, as Autodesk updated their APIs from .NET 4 to .NET 8 with this release.

If it's working, it's working, but be aware you may run into issues. This is a big jump in versions, and has made a lot of code obsolete. Many addins will fail.
