Round to Oval Connectors
« on: Feb 13, 2026, 15:39:38 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to connect round duct to oval duct but am having connector issues. First of all, is this even possible? I don't see a way to switch C1/C2 from round to oval in the drop down menu and when I change it manually, it changes red and will go blank when I save the ITM.

I am working in Revit 2025 and managing the database in CADmep 2023.

No, the connectors come from two different groups: Round and Oval.

There are ITMs that allow for the connection between the two when doing ductwork.  What are you trying to connect?

There may be a way to use a zero or very small length object but it depends if this would be a valid connection in the real world.

I have oval duct fittings that are going to round taps. I am trying to connect round spiral duct to the oval duct fittings.

For example, one duct is 22x18 oval then reduces down and taps off as 14" round. Rather than use an oval to round fitting, at each location, I just changed the tap and reducer to round duct. I need to confirm that it's even possible to manufacturer them this one, but for now that I what I have done. I suppose I will look into using oval to round adapters if it's not possible.

There are oval to round patterns to make that transition. For the Wye you show, we are using CID#356. Some others to look into are 1116 (boot tee), 103 (oval to round transition),

So after some digging, I discovered that the parts I was using had "catalogue" checked which was preventing them from connecting to each other for some reason. I unchecked it on all my items and now the round ducts are connecting to the oval just fine. I downloaded these from Trimble's MEPcontent, so I don't always have full control over the settings, but they are working correctly now.

For OVAL ducts that have a ROUND tap, you have to enter the tap size as 12x12 for a 12" ROUND tap, there are, though, a few CIDs that have round taps, but they are NOT Conicals or Boot Style, only straight, CID#356.

When attaching to this *round* tap size you will HAVE to change the template to round, it will not automatically go there, and then you can add round fittings, connectors should work correctly.
