cursor disappearing
« on: Oct 20, 2006, 22:45:05 PM »
I am finding that my cursor disappears when it gets inside of the drawing space. I'll attach the drawing to try to explain this... I know this is probably a very basic ACad issue, but I cannot figure this one out on my own. Help, anyone?
Thanks

not able to duplicate your problem - could you elaborate?

Interestingly, I apprenticed to a firm called via-duct htg & ventilation in the UK back in the 60's.

Most likely the disappearing cursor is an undocumented feature designed to p.o. canadians.

IF you get a chance, register for the upcoming augi cadcamp in Vancouver next month.

I had a similar problem Friday too. Cad was sticking on comands. The cusor would be visable around the edges but not in the drawing area.
You did reboot?
After trying everything, I moved to repairing autocad from the Add/Remove in the contol panel.
It didn't work and I didn't want to reinstall AutoCad so....

Before we start a new station. I make a new profile in the "options" of autocad for the new user and rename it to their name. That keeps the original intact. Hopefully you done this. I tried the original and it didn't work, but I exported one from a diffrent computer, made it current and rebooted. It fixed the problem. I then set it back to my original, made it current and it still worked. Profiles are TOOLS/OPTIONS/PROFILES.

Thanks for the input. I had a look at the AUGI CAD Camp line up for Vancouver and it looks way over my head, thanks anyway!

The cursor is disappearing in the layout tabs only, but is fine in the model tab. I have rebooted, tried changing the profiles... nothing has worked. I tried importing a profile from my desktop computer, which works fine (it's the laptop that won't show the cursor either in a CADduct drawing, or a basic Acad drawing). That didn't work either.
If indeed this is something designed to p.o. Canadians, it is doing a 'bang up' job!

Did you check to see what color the cursor is? Is the snap set too big? I know that these are some pranks to do to people's settings in AutoCAD. (Heck, I wrote a lisp routine years ago to move objects back to the original location, with the object moving across the screen). Not sure if this is it but you never know.

Hey, that worked! Changing the cursor colour was the ticket. I'd love to blame it on a prankster, but I am the only one here. I still don't get why, if I imported a profile I know works, it did not work when imported to the laptop...  Thanks for the help, and just in time too, only a few hairs left on my head that I have not yet pulled out.

Now, can you tell me how to get that little mini toolbar with the spooling icons into my drawing? It has disappeared too...

I love my job, I love my job....

Right click just outside the drawing and go to probably acad and see if there's a checkmark by the toolbar needed.
