tnbndr:
When I set up my item buttons under item I had set them all to galvanized for Material. Now when I start up and start drawing I get Stainless as the material and I have to edit the first piece to change the material. I checked and edited several of my item buttons and they have all defaulted to Stainless for Material. Where are they getting the information to default to stainless?
We do majority of galvanized and I want them to default to that material and I will change on insertion when I have a specialty material. I set them all back to galvanized but the next time I start up they all revert back to stainless.
Thanks
Dennis
Andy Robins:
If you are talking about template items, the Material does not get saved with the item file. So it does not matter what you set it to by editing the button.
What is happening is that the first Material valid for the Current Spec (pressure class) is being assigned to the First Item you draw.
To set the Material and Spec up for the first piece, go into main database, Item Entry and select current spec, set the spec in there, and set the material under current values, as long as that material is valid for the spec that should carry over.
Alternatively hold down the ALT key when positioning the first piece so you get the dialogue and set the Material/Spec in the Item tab
