combustible construction

Hello, I'm coordinating the location of a positive pressure flue that requires 6" clearance
from combustible construction.
Is a gypsum wallboard partition considered to be combustible construction?

It is where I come from. That is just paper covering the interior gypsum.

generally speaking , you need two layers of 5/8" thick type x gypsum wall board to get any kind of a fire rating, but I wouldn't start calling that non-combustible. For no-combustible your'e basically talking concrete or concrete masonary unit.

A gyp wall is not considered "combustible construction" as long as it is framed with metal studs.

( I realize I'm only a couple years late on this answer...)
