Would like to be able to distinguish one duct riser from another .., EX: Supply riser "X" , Return "/" and exhaust .... similar to the options available with Diffusers. Please Advise...

I believe this has been requested before....I would also like to see it implemented to the Oval Ducts, as of now, it only works with Rect and Round...

We use the sections for diffrent risers. It works quite well and it make a layer for them to turn them on and off.

Doesn't make a symbol just allows you to set your risers layers to be different based on the section you have set.
We also use this for xreffing in the risers into certain floors of buildings. It does work quite well.
Not the same as adding the riser symbols though.

My reading comprehension is low today. I was thinking the question was asking something else.
If you use diffrent colors, that may help, still no symbol.

In Model Space, the symbols help YOU know which is which (cuz you know the colors too), but I still hate printing with them. I'd rather turn them off, and do my own hatching and symbols...  I got used to doing this (2d plotting symbology) when I started doing 3d anyway, and I've never seen anything that can automatically do it.

Still, this is HUGE request item.  Custom Symbols for these items and the ability to assign them layers would be very nice indeed.

MAP is almost there. These symbols already go on their own layer, CAD Type "symbol". So that you can control visibility. They just need to have the symbols different for the different systems.

I know AutoCad MEP can show symbols by systems.  Now only if Cadduct could do this.

I asked about that and was told what we consider standard is NOT standard in other parts of the world. Seems like a legitimate issue for a multi-national software developer.

I'm pretty confident that this issue too will be overcome by the programmers at MAP. They always seem to make the stuff we want happen.

I agree with CJ, it will happen, just a matter of time.

Well could I alt least turn it off and then draw them in with lines to match what I need? I have not seen that option.

You can turn them off. Database, CadDuct Solids BSS in the lower right corner, just uncheck them all.

This is probably very true, things are done quite different on the other side of the pond, BUT, they could easily work in the program the ability to specify several different types of lines/hatches that you can then set to specific services....

Ya we are not forced to use millimeters, so why not have options here as well?

Andy as tazman mentioned in the first post, if they looked like the diffuser symbols.  I know I've seen pictures posted on the forum before.  I'll look or post something.

cool, so we have round covered.
What I need to understand is Exhaust, how would we tell our items they are that, we designate Supply and Extract in the service flow direction, which way does the air flow in Exhaust?

Well, normally would consider it the same as return.  Of course one side of the fan that is not true, but we don't normally differentiate.

In case I wasn't clear enough..... air flows from grille to fan and then from fan to outside.

Just curious how this will work... Will each joint of duct have a dashed symbol on the bottom end, and a solid symbol on the top? So on a complex riser with transitions and/or offsets it could get congested. Will this be a switch that we turn on and off in our database, or on individual CID's?
Don't get me wrong, I like this kind of progress, I'm just thinking out loud and trying to make sure that it gets thought out thorougly.

On this side of the pond, is

SUPPLY - From Unit to Air terminals
RETURN - From Air terminals to Unit
EXHAUST - From Air Terminals to Outside via Exhaust Fan

To me, Extract sound like Exhaust and not Return....
